The modern home consumes more electricity than it once did due to the great amounts of technology we use. Older, smaller services protected by fuses have given way to larger systems protected by circuit breakers. You may find that your home's circuit breakers are inadequate for your current needs.

If your home's circuits aren't up to the challenges of modern appliances you may find them overloading. In this scenario, more amperage is transferred through the wires than the circuit can manage. If this happens, a circuit breaker will "trip" or shut off power to that circuit to prevent damage to the wires or device.  Here are some scenarios that might require that you upgrade or rewire your circuits:

A new appliance: Are you adding a refrigerator or freezer to your basement or garage?

Ceiling fan: Do you want to add fan controls to the wall and stop using the pull chains?

Computer equipment: Are there excessive numbers of cords and power strips drawing from a single outlet?

Security: Are you adding a hardwired security system to your home for your family's safety?

Workshop or Garage: Are you lacking outlets or can you only run a single tool without tripping a breaker?

Entertainment Centers: Do you have large amounts of wires from a TV, cable, DVD player, and speakers all plugged into one outlet?

Lighting: Is your lighting inadequate for the room and you want to add more?

These are just some of the reasons you may need to rewire or upgrade your circuits and circuit breakers.
